Emerald Starfish was referred to a rapidly growing engineering company whose HR function was struggling to keep up with their recruitment needs. The company took the decision to hand over their recruitment at all levels on a 9-month retained basis to Emerald Starfish. We were tasked with increasing candidate retention, a reduction in time to hire and a reduction in recruitment costs. 
 

The Challenges 

The company needed a recruitment strategy that supported their rapid growth plans. 
The company was used to working with standard recruitment agencies that had incurred high costs and didn't work within the companies values. This resulted in poor candidate quality and lack of commitment. 
The HR team were spending the majority of their time on recruitment meaning that other parts of their people strategy and development was being overlooked 
 

The Solution 

We agreed a fixed monthly price for a six month project 
We designed a candidate engagement strategy and an employer branding strategy so that the company became the employer of choice within the competitive local candidate market. 
Emerald Starfish placed 4 candidates a month managing all the candidates throughout the process to ensure an exceptional level of service. 
We ran a recruitment training course for all hiring managers to help them all make better hiring decisions. 
We worked closely with HR as a recruitment partner adding value and expertise throughout the recruitment process. 

The Results 

The contract was extended by 2 months and a total of 44 heads were placed in the business from Production Operatives to members of the Senior Management team. 
We saved the client £121,708 compared to if all the roles had been placed through agencies on 15%. 
We saved the client 856 hours of work for the HR team allowing them to focus on other projects. 
We increased employee retention to 91%. 
We have designed an employer branding strategy to attract the best local candidates 
The project has been continued into 2023.
