Head hunted a Key Strategic Business Head

Emerald Starfish was asked to run a headhunting project to find a business head for a key operational position within a leading food and beverage retail company.
The Challenge
The client had been advertising directly for this head hunted position for a while and whilst had identified a few potential candidates the client wanted a better understanding of the potential candidate pool and the skills profile available in the marketplace. They wanted to talk to a wider number of candidates that would be interested in the role and fitted the profile for the position.
The Background
The client approached Emerald Starfish as a result of a recommendation. We met with members of the senior management team to understand the profile of the person required and what experience would be needed for the candidates to be successful within this role.
The Solution
Emerald starfish came up with a list of potential candidates and competitors for the client to initially assess to ensure that we understood the brief fully. Rather than working to a placement fee or an executive search fee solution we agreed the length of time that this project would take us and came up with an over all cost based on this.
The Result
The savings on this project were over £20,000 compared to traditional headhunting fees, however as the client now owns all the candidates identified the savings will continue to grow moving forward.
Emerald Starfish undertook:
Mapping relevant organisations for talent
Sourcing of candidates
Initiated a talent pool for the company
Matched candidates to the profile
Screened candidates versus criteria identified.
Managed all the candidates throughout the process (including all direct applicants) to ensure a superior candidate experience.
Over the time of the project Emerald Starfish sourced 67 candidates for this position. As well as this we also found 9 interim candidates of which 1 was successful to address the immediate business need. 6 of these candidates then entered the interviewing process with the client. All other candidates were put into the talent pool for future positions as the company is going through a rapid growth phase.
Emerald Starfish also worked on a number of other contingency roles for this company whilst undertaking this project.
What the client said
"I just wanted to say thank you for your support and just diving in to the situations that we put you in as I am fully aware that you have picked up a number of roles for us."
